MAKIKO HARRIS
MIXED MEDIA ARTIST
Makiko Harris (she/her) is a Japanese and American multimedia visual artist working across painting, sculpture, installation, and sound. Originally from San Francisco, CA, Makiko currently lives and works in London. She earned her MA at the Royal College of Art in Contemporary Art Practice (2023) and her BA in Philosophy and Studio Art at Tufts University in Boston, MA (2011).
Harris’ work explores contemporary feminism, belonging, and desire. Informed by feminist theory and her own experiences as a biracial woman, Harris uses painting, installation, sculpture, and sound to create work that challenges viewers to think critically about their own definitions of identity and roles in power dynamics.

NEW AURIC FIELD
BY LAUREN BAKER
The aura is an electromagnetic energy field that is the bridge between our spiritual and physical body. When it comes to the blending of colours, I am inspired by Hilma af Klint’s use of colour to depict spiritual dimensions, and Rothko’s blending of hues to evoke emotional depth. Each canvas starts with listening to sound frequencies whilst painting… this time at 741 Hz, and the sound really informs the energy and the hues of colour. It is believed, the 741 Hz Solfeggio tone furthers the connection to intuition and truth.
