IMOGEN HoGAN

Imogen’s most recent work focuses on portraits, mainly of women. The images have a strong narrative, often a commentary on everyday life and commonplace observation. These are images of powerful women, uplifting and playful. Worked on bright coarsely woven linens combined with vintage barkcloth, stitched unevenly with black Egyptian cotton thread giving the impression of thick inked lines. These pieces are then stretched onto large canvases which also help to contribute to their painterly quality.
